Miranda July's secret ingredient is you
It's summertime in New York City, and instead of sitting in cramped apartments or crowded coffee shops, people are once again congregating in parks. In light of this, multi-talented artist Miranda July decided this was the perfect time to set up a public art installation in the city's Union Square. The project is called Eleven Heavy Things, and consists primarily of gray pedestals with text written on them by July herself, encouraging people to stand on and interact with its components. The installation is available for all to see and fool around with until October 3.

Remembering Tobias Wong »
A collection of the New York artist's provocative designs
It's been a particularly sad week for the art world. First, we lost the brilliant, tremendously influential Louise Bourgeois. Then we learned that New York-based artist and designer Tobias Wong also passed away over the weekend. He was only 35. During his short career, Wong both worked within and critiqued the commercial world. He created clever, often ingenious objects and orchestrated unforgettable happenings. We celebrate his life the best way we know how: by collecting some of his most provocative work.
